How Is The Painful Thumb Joint Treated?

The sore thumb joint when walking is the result of osteoarthritis. When the joint is really inflexible, it is called thumb stiffness, and when the joint is not flexible, it is called thumb limitation. If the thumb is stiff, it will hurt whenever you walk, so if you feel painful when you rest, it is more likely to be gout than the thumb is stiff. Considering the stiffness of the thumb, when we walk, we lift our back foot and start to leave the ground. Only when the thumb joint bends can this movement occur. If it is osteoarthritis with limited movement or big toe joint pain, it is not easy to walk. It is logical to walk with joint pain. Then, the reasonable solution is to adjust the amount of motion of the joint to help relieve pain during exercise.

There are many different ways to do this. A simple method used by podiatrists is to use felt pads. Felt pads can be attached to or under the thumb of the foot, and the forefoot or strap can be used to bind the thumb joint. These two methods are usually good temporary methods, but they are not realistic in the long run. If a foot rest is needed for other reasons, a foot specialist can add an extension called Morton Extension to the front edge of the foot rest. They can limit joints by limiting their bending or bending. Another method is to use a carbon fiber insole with a thickness of less than 2mm, which is easily suitable for shoes, so it is not very flexible. This kind of carbon fiber board is usually helpful in treating the stiffness of the thumb and toes and other conditions, including lawn toes, which usually need to limit the movement of the thumb and toe joints. Studies have shown that this type is very effective in helping big toe joint symptoms. Another way to deal with osteoarthritis and stiff big toe discomfort is to simply use shoes with more inflexible soles. The softer the sole, the easier it is to bend the big toe or the big toe joint, which can cause pain when walking. There are several types of shoes, especially Hoka running shoes, with rocker and extra padding, which are particularly beneficial. The result of using a stick on such shoes is that the thumb or thumb does not have to bend as if it were moving forward on the stick. Schoolchildren or shoemakers can add rockers to a variety of shoes to achieve the same effect.

For patients with stiff thumbs or osteoarthritis of thumbs or thumb joints, there is a choice to treat pain in the short term. In the long term, the pain can be alleviated through the movement of thumb joints.
